For years I was so busy just trying to run my business and take care of clients, I couldn’t even begin to think about doing anything else. Even though I really wanted to be more successful…Writing a book, launching a program or getting any of my own marketing done—let alone taking a vacation—seemed pretty much impossible.
Not to mention the pain of my soul shrinking every time I watched my hubby head off kayaking, skiing or biking with our friends…While I sat chained to my computer.
I felt like I was doing everything I could to make it happen. But it just wasn’t happening. Sure I had clients, projects, and cash flow. But for all the effort I put in I was stuck at about $60,000 in gross revenues.
As much as I loved what I was doing, working that much and missing out on life was depressing. The worst part was, even with all my long hours of hard work, I wasn’t getting closer to the success I was dreaming of.
At that point I really couldn’t work any more hours. So I had no way to get more done.
But if you’ve been in my community for a while, you already know that now I’m long past those days (thank goodness!!).
I play a lot. I regularly get out for weeklong vacations and adventures. My patient and supportive hubby now gets my time and attention. So does my dog.
I cook and garden. I get 7-8 hours of sleep a night. And we get out and exercise 5-6 days a week. This year I even took up ballroom dancing.
On top of all that I’ve published five products and a booklet and a book and put on teleseminars, live workshops, and virtual coaching programs that grew my business to more than 6-figures in revenues.
You CAN do the same. But it doesn’t happen by accident. It takes planning and thought to unchain yourself from your business. Far more than it takes to end up overworked and underpaid—that’s for sure.
None of us start our businesses thinking “Oh, if only I could find a way to work 60 or more hours each week. That’s all I really want to do with my life!”

First off, you have to recognize that your business life isn’t going to change on its own. If you keep doing what you’ve always done it’s going to stay just like it is today.
Creating a thriving business that supports your lifestyle takes prioritizing, planning and a willingness to take action.
